Jewellery Engraving

The words on a piece of jewellery are usually the ones nobody else sees — a date inside a wedding band, initials on a pendant back, coordinates nobody else can decode. Jewellery engraving puts them there properly: clean, legible, and permanent.
What we engrave
- Inside rings — wedding and promise bands: dates, initials, names, one line that fits.
- Pendants & tags — faces and backs, from a single letter to a short message.
- Watch case backs — the classic graduation and retirement mark, done tidily.
- Bangles & cuffs — inside or out, spacing set to suit the curve.
What people have engraved
- Wedding dates paired with two sets of initials
- Short lines — a phrase, a lyric, a joke only two people get
- Coordinates of somewhere that matters
- A simple cross, symbol or small motif
Done carefully
Engraving is permanent, so it is treated that way: wording, spelling and font confirmed with you before a tool touches metal, spacing laid out on the piece itself, and a depth that reads clearly without stressing thin metal. Script or print — we will show what suits the piece and the letter count.
Good to know
- Engraved pieces are final sale. Personalised work cannot be returned, so wording is confirmed in writing before engraving begins.
- Thin and stone-lined bands have limits. Inside space runs out sooner than expected; we will say what actually fits before promising poetry.
- New rings welcome. From our collections or elsewhere — if the metal is sound, it can take engraving.
Common questions
How many characters fit inside a ring?
It depends on ring width and size — dates and initials fit almost anything, full sentences need width. Send the exact wording and we will confirm what fits before quoting.
Will engraving weaken the ring?
Not when it is cut to the right depth for the metal. On very thin bands we adjust the lettering rather than push through the wall.
Can you engrave handwriting?
A photo of handwriting can often be adapted for engraving. It is a craft call — we will be honest about how faithfully it will translate before you commit.
