Expert Jewellery Repair

Some repairs are routine. Others decide whether a piece survives the decade — a ring whose shank has worn paper-thin, an heirloom whose prongs have quietly given up, a stone that wobbles in a setting older than anyone remembers. Expert jewellery repair is the service for those pieces: assessment first, honest advice, and handwork that leaves no trace.
The expert part is the judgement
- Honest assessment before anything. Repair, redesign or leave it alone — you get the real answer, with what each path costs, before any work starts.
- Repairs that disappear. Metal matched to colour and carat, seams polished flush, patterns carried across the join so the mend can’t be found.
- Stone-safe handwork. Heat managed and stones protected while soldering runs close to settings; loose stones secured before one is lost for good.
- Heirloom-friendly. Old and period pieces are repaired with their character intact — a fix should not erase the history it saves.
Repairs we handle most
- Ring resizing done properly — sized up or down with the profile and finish carried across the join; thin or worn shanks built back up first.
- Prong work & stone tightening — worn claws re-tipped, settings rebuilt, wobbling diamonds and gemstones secured.
- Broken chains, clasps & jump rings — soldered, reinforced and finished so the repair is invisible.
- Earring posts, backs & hinges — snapped posts rebuilt, tired backs and stiff hinges replaced.
- Refinishing & rhodium — deep scratches taken out, polish or texture restored, white gold brought back to bright white.
How a repair goes
- Send photos. The piece, the damage, any hallmarks on the inside — it tells us most of the story before you spend anything.
- Assessment and quote. What the work involves, what it costs, and whether the piece is worth doing at all. You approve, then we start.
- Repaired, checked, returned. Cleaned and inspected end to end before it comes back to you.
Common questions
Is it worth repairing this piece?
That is the first question, not the awkward one at the end. Sentiment counts — but if a repair would cost more than the piece can ever be worth, we say so and talk through redesign or repurposing instead.
Will the repair be visible?
The goal is that no one finds it, and on most solid gold and sterling silver pieces that is exactly what happens. On very worn or very old work we explain the likely outcome before quoting.
Do you repair jewellery you did not sell?
Yes — bring what you have. A real assessment beats a guess over the counter.
